Size guide

Sizing can vary from one style to another, so the product page always comes first: where our supplier gives measurements, you will find them there. This page shows you how to measure, so you can compare with confidence.

How to measure yourself

Use a soft tape measure, keep it snug but not tight, and measure over light clothing.

  • Bust: around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape level under your arms.
  • Waist: around your natural waist, the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above your belly button.
  • Hips: around the fullest part of your hips and seat, feet together.
  • Length: from the highest point of your shoulder straight down to where you want the hem to fall.

The quicker way

Take a piece you already love wearing, lay it flat and measure it: chest from armpit to armpit, then the length. Compare those numbers with the measurements on the product page. It is often more reliable than measuring yourself.

Reading the measurements on a product page

Measurements are given in inches. When a chart shows a garment measurement "laid flat", double it to get the full circumference. Flowy and relaxed styles are cut with room to move, so the garment will measure more than your body, and that is intended.

Between two sizes?

If the product page says a style runs small or large, follow that. Otherwise, take your usual size for loose and flowy pieces, and the larger of the two for anything fitted.

Shoes

Our shoes are in US sizes. Measure your foot from heel to longest toe, standing, in the late afternoon when your feet are at their largest, and compare with the product page. If you are between two sizes, or your feet are on the wide side, the larger size is usually the safer choice.

For him

Men's pieces are in US sizes too. Measure around the fullest part of the chest for tops and jackets, and compare with a shirt or sweater he already wears and likes.

Still unsure?

Email contact@clovermae.com with the name of the piece and your measurements before you order. We will tell you what we know about that style.
