Clover Mae is an online shop for women who already know what they like. When we choose a piece, we picture one woman: Mae, fifty-eight. She is our muse, not a member of the team, and the question we ask on her behalf never changes: would she actually wear this on an ordinary Saturday, and would someone stop her to ask where she got it?

Her Saturdays are full. The farmers market early, a coffee that goes cold while she talks, her granddaughter's soccer game, dinner on a friend's porch. She wants to look put-together for all of it, and she wants to forget what she is wearing by noon, because it simply feels good.

What she kept running into

You probably know the feeling. The racks that are either beige and shapeless or cut for someone half your age. The dress you love on the hanger that clings at the hips and gapes at the arms. The cute shoes that are done for by lunchtime. The sweater your husband has worn since 2009, because shopping for him is somehow your job too.

So you close the tab, and you wear the old favorites again.

What we look for

Flowy prints with a little story to them. Boho and vintage-inspired shapes that move with you instead of holding you in. Midi and maxi lengths, sleeves that cover what you would like covered, easy layers you can take off when the room gets warm. Comfortable shoes you can stand in all day. And a few classics for him, the kind he will actually reach for.

We write down the measurements where our supplier gives them. When the one you need is missing, ask us before you order: two lines of email beforehand beat a package sent back afterward.
